No More Prisons, No More Closets

this is a beautiful article by Toshio Meronek, editor of Critical Resistance newspaper The Abolitionist, about the relationship between queer & trans people, the prison industrial complex and the histories of prison abolitionist organizing.

At a Liberation Summer planning meeting last night, Angela Davis encouraged us to examine our own bodies, beliefs & psyches in order to interrogate where the Prison Industrial Complex has taken residence inside ourselves.  Simply put, she said, we are not beyond being oppressive!
Convinced & determined i left the meeting early and went straight to a psychic photographer.  I asked them to take a snapshot of my soul in order to located and root out where the PIC was inside of me.  because of course, the revolution starts at home.
in return for my barter the photographer gave me this picture, a true photograph of my spirit. i’m terrified but i’m hopeful i still have time transform & buck the po-po from my ride!
